August's theme is mass incarceration. We have 2 book options: a nonfiction read that dispels 21 myths and/or a poetry collection. We'll write cards to incarcerated people, for the Abolitionist Mail Project. If you can't attend in person, there are still ways to support!

The Democratic primary is very important this year! Moulton is challenging Markey for the U.S. Senate, and it's a very crowded field (6 candidates!) vying for the U.S. House of Representatives. Make a plan to vote!

In the wake of the April 21st public meeting on Flock automated license plate readers, Beverly Police Department has turned off automatic nationwide data sharing and launched a transparency portal.

On the tails of July 4th, we discussed The 1619 Project during our July 18, 2026 meeting. We then took a took a field trip to Historic Beverly to see their exhibit Set at Liberty (pictured above), which features the stories of enslaved people in Beverly.
Here we are at BevCam on July 7, 2026, recording a conversation about Flock cameras. We were joined by Rep. Hannah Bowen, a lawyer at the ACLU of MA, and a cybersecurity practitioner. Stay tuned for the episode and the launch of our podcast, Better Beverly.

Kathryn Henderson, a volunteer with Voter Choice Massachusetts, joined our June 20, 2026 meeting to discuss bringing ranked choice voting to Beverly.
We chatted with Rep. Hannah Bowen during her office hours at Backbeat Brewing on June 12, 2026. We discussed data privacy, transportation equity, ranked choice voting, and community engagement.
Keith Sonia soft launched the Beverly Engagement Project with us during our May 30, 2026 meeting.
We flocked to the Mayor's office hours on April 30, 2026, as a follow-up to the spirited public meeting about Flock cameras on April 21.

To galvanize the community ahead of the April 21, 2026 public meeting about Flock cameras., we tabled and handed out flyers at Hands Off Beverly protests.
During our April 19, 2026 meeting, we upcycled cardboard into postcards and wrote to our elected officials about issues we cared about. Congressional candidate Jamie Belsito also joined us.
We donated 23 pounds of period supplies to Beverly Bootstraps on March 30, 2026, all collected at our meeting a couple days earlier.
We packed 60 grab-and-go period kids (and folded zines about menstrual stigma) for River House during our March 28, 2026 meeting.
At MIRA’s Annual Immigrants’ Rights Conference on March 13, 2026 at Boston University.

We packed 50 kids' snack bags for Beverly Bootstraps during our Jan 24, 2026 meeting.
We read the land and labor acknowledgments at the city's annual MLK Breakfast on Jan 19, 2026.
We brainstormed ideas for 2026 during our Dec 20, 2025 meeting.
We explore the ways in which we are impacted by and contribute to oppressive systems. And we work together to heal, grow, and experiment with alternate ways to move forward collectively.
